Soccaskool’s U11 and U12 Girls Development Teams in North Shore Action.

Soccaskool’s U11 and U12 Girls Development Teams continued their Fall season

last weekend with a visit to The Lower Mainland to compete in The North Shore Soccer Club girls tournament.

Both of our teams were able to demonstrate the progress we have made so far with our new girls program. Our girls produced excellent performances and were able to record great results against strong opposition.

These teams have now been training 3 times a week since the beginning of July and their progress is clear to see. On Wednesday, we played the last of our early morning inter squad matches at Dilworth, which have been a lot of fun even if it is starting to get pretty chilly !

This weekend both teams will travel to Vernon to wrap up our outdoor phase with a couple of matches against EFS. This will take our number of competitive matches played so far with these teams to 14 each.

U11 Girls (2007/2008)

Our Development Team Program is well and truly established now, and is rapidly gaining a reputation across the entire Province of being one of the very best development programs available anywhere !

These teams train 3-4 times a week all year round with a full time, professional coach. We play in weekly inter squad training matches. We also travel around the Province and compete in a variety of events, leagues and tournaments resulting in around 30-35 competitive matches spread across the year against hand picked teams teams such as Calgary Blizzard, TSSFaly Soccer Academy, Western Canada Rush to name just a few to ensure competitive games against top quality opponents.

Our aim is to develop as many players as possible through the U9 to U12 years who are able to compete and play in The BC Soccer Premier League and beyond. This is the recognized pathway for the elite soccer player in British Columbia, leading to opportunities with the Provincial Program and with The Whitecaps Residency Program.

This year we are very excited to add our first ever girls team to our program.

Our Development Team tryouts are open to any players interested in becoming part of our academy program, not just those currently attending the Academy.  There is no cost to attend just register and show up at the field for Tryout #1 and be assessed.

Tryout #2 – will be by invite only. Successful players will need to attend both tryouts.  Under age players can try out with permission only (please contact us beforehand with your details)

Roster size of each squad will be 12 and we will only ever field one team at each age group.  In 2017/18 we will have 5 teams in total
If selected, we will ask you to commit to Soccaskool from July 2017 to July 2018.

Our younger players, U9 and U10 are able to participate in COYSA programs throughout the year if they wish to but our older players U11 and U12 are not.

Our existing teams are highly competitive and there is increased interest every year so it will not be easy to gain a spot on a Soccaskool Development Team but everybody who attends our tryouts will be fully and fairly assessed.

Come out and give it a go ! Get out your comfort zone it’s where the MAGIC Happens !

Goals Galore as Development Teams Enjoy Futsal Experience

It was FUTSAL last weekend for the Soccaskool Development Teams, as we travelled to Vernon to take part in a futsal tournament competing against teams from Vernon and Nelson.

Our players had practised in futsal format for the two weeks leading up to this event so we were well prepared for the differences between futsal and the indoor soccer that we usually play. All of the matches were played on a hard surface gymnasium floor and with a heavier ball which the players had to adapt to. One thing that our players had no trouble at all in adapting to was the speed of the game. The way we encourage our teams play, with very quick ball movement, is perfectly suited to futsal and we were able to enjoy some excellent periods of play which made for some very exciting games.

From our academy we sent 5 teams to the tournament. Three of these teams competed in the U12 division and the other two competed at U10.

Thank you to our friends from EFS for hosting the event and for making us welcome. Overall the tournament was an excellent experience for everyone with each of our teams performing well with great success.

Development Teams enjoy game day in Kamloops

Soccaskool’s U10s were in action this weekend in Kamloops. They joined our U11s and our U9s for a full day of matches against Soccer Quest Academy. All of the games were played on Quest’s indoor 6 a side facility in Kamloops, and the two academies enjoyed a great day of matches together across the age groups. All games produced some very exciting, good quality soccer and were enjoyed by large crowds of parents and fans.

Our U11s and U12s also enjoyed an excellent inter squad match at CNC in Kelowna on Saturday

The quality of soccer on show from all of our Development Teams this weekend demonstrates perfectly that our program has a continous feel to it these days. Each of our teams, from U9 to U12 were trying to play a similar brand and style of quick, slick, attacking soccer. These teams have now reached the half way point of our 2016-17 Development Teams Program. They will continue to practice 3 times a week through the winter months, and will play the occasional inter squad matches, resuming a full competitive playing schedule in March.

At this point, each of our teams have had a full five months of practice and have played in around 20 competitive matches. The development progress of these teams and these players was there for all to see this weekend !
