Development Team Tryouts

It’s Development Teams tryout time !

Tryout #1 –  Sunday June 18th – 7pm to 9pm – Mission #15
Tryout #2  – Monday June 19th –  7pm to 9pm  – Mission #9

U9 Boys (2009)
U10 Boys (2008)
U11 Boys (2007)
U12 Boys (2006)

U11 Girls (2007/2008)

Our Development Team Program is well and truly established now, and is rapidly gaining a reputation across the entire Province of being one of the very best development programs available anywhere !

These teams train 3-4 times a week all year round with a full time, professional coach. We play in weekly inter squad training matches. We also travel around the Province and compete in a variety of events, leagues and tournaments resulting in around 30-35 competitive matches spread across the year against hand picked teams teams such as Calgary Blizzard, TSSFaly Soccer Academy, Western Canada Rush to name just a few to ensure competitive games against top quality opponents.

Our aim is to develop as many players as possible through the U9 to U12 years who are able to compete and play in The BC Soccer Premier League and beyond. This is the recognized pathway for the elite soccer player in British Columbia, leading to opportunities with the Provincial Program and with The Whitecaps Residency Program.

This year we are very excited to add our first ever girls team to our program.

Our Development Team tryouts are open to any players interested in becoming part of our academy program, not just those currently attending the Academy.  There is no cost to attend just register and show up at the field for Tryout #1 and be assessed.

Tryout #2 – will be by invite only. Successful players will need to attend both tryouts.  Under age players can try out with permission only (please contact us beforehand with your details)

Roster size of each squad will be 12 and we will only ever field one team at each age group.  In 2017/18 we will have 5 teams in total
If selected, we will ask you to commit to Soccaskool from July 2017 to July 2018.

Our younger players, U9 and U10 are able to participate in COYSA programs throughout the year if they wish to but our older players U11 and U12 are not.

Our existing teams are highly competitive and there is increased interest every year so it will not be easy to gain a spot on a Soccaskool Development Team but everybody who attends our tryouts will be fully and fairly assessed.

Come out and give it a go ! Get out your comfort zone it’s where the MAGIC Happens !

Soccaskool Players Shine in Whitecaps Colours

Several Soccaskool players were invited to play on Vancouver Whitecaps Regional Academy teams at The Adidas Cup in Surrey recently. Our players produced some outstanding displays and earned excellent reviews from Whitecaps staff

Sophia, making a rare appearance in girls soccer (she plays on our U11 Boys Development Team) scored all four goals in a 4-0 win over Western Canada Rush on the Sunday, and followed that up with a second hat trick in the next game.

Kai, from our U12 Development Team, finished with seven goals over the course of the weekend, which helped his team to a 4 and 0 tournament record during which Dylan’s four goals and great performances also helped that team’s cause, along with rock solid performances at the back from Keaton.

Koen, Adrian and Trayton, who are pictured here, were on a different team . All three played a big part in their Whitecaps team being successful. These three are key players for Soccaskool’s U12 Development Team

Finn, from our U9 Development Team playing ‘up’ in a Whitecaps U10 team helped himself to four goals and took much of the credit for his team’s success.

Finally Jackson a past recipient of Okanagan Academy Player of the Month was attending his first tournament with the Okanagan Academy and made an impact on his team too.

Our players train hard all year round and are very committed to being all that they can be as soccer players. It is great to see them performing so well and earning recognition from The Whitecaps Regional Academies Staff.

Kayden is a very consistent performer, loves to defend but is very composed and comfortable on the ball and leads by example. Younger brother Kieron loves to score goals and has improved his ball handling tremendously in the last year and is now playing with the same type of assurance and confidence as his older brother. Well done boys it is a real pleasure working with you both !

Player Profile – Charlie

Our first featured player of 2017 is none other than Charlie P.

Charlie is one of our very best and is the ‘engine’ of our excellent U11 Development Team.  A natural leftie, he strikes the ball extremely well indeed and his strength and determination are without equal.

Charlie attended the Barcelona FC summer camp last year in Kelowna and impressed the Barca camp head coach so much that he was invited to Vancouver to represent the Vancouver Barca academy in a national tournament with all of the other Barca academies across Canada.

His performances at that tournament were so strong that he was invited to Spain this year to spend a week at La Masia, the actual Barcelona academy where Messi learned to play. Amazingly, two Soccaskool players were invited to Spain, and Luka will also be heading there along with Charlie in the Spring

Coaches Comment –

Charlie has been with the academy now for a few years and is a fantastic role model for all our younger players.  Charlie has an excellent game sense and is a real leader both on and off the field, he is an excellent trainer who works very hard at his game and consistently puts in maximum effort to everything he does at Soccaskool.  It has been a pleasure for us to work with Charlie over the years and see his game take leaps and bounds in that time and we very much look forward to seeing his progress continue over the next few years and beyond!

Congratulations Diego

Diego - HPPSoccaskool graduate player Diego was recently selected for the U13 Provincial High Performance Program !

Diego becomes the third Soccaskool player to be selected for the BC Provincial High Performance programs, joining Annika and Camden on that growing list.

We are very proud of our players and we keenly keep track of their progress once they ‘graduate’ from our academy after the U12 year.

At Soccaskool, we choose to measure our success by the number of players that we steer towards the BC Soccer Premier League tryout process. There are currently 11 Soccaskool graduates playing in the BCSPL, and from there we hope that some of them may even become a permanent fixture in the provinces High Performance Programming.

In June next year, all 13 of our 2005 Development Team players will be headed for the TOFC tryouts, and we will be making sure that they are well prepared and capable of achieving success

Parents Comments: Ava has enjoyed playing soccer since she was old enough to kick a ball and her love for the game has steadily grown since. Whether playing in the backyard with her brother Hayden, practicing or competing in games, Ava is always working hard. With the excellent coaching and the Soccaskool community supporting her, Ava’s love for soccer has soared as has her confidence and skill as a player. She is a real joy to watch!

Coaches Comments: Ava has been with us for sometime now but made an immediate impression with her skill level but more importantly her decision making which is as good as anyone’s on the academy.  She continues to improve in all areas of her game which can be attributed to her hard work and excellent attitude and focus during each and every practice !! Keep up the great work Ava !
